Sara began her teaching career in progressive Reggio Emilia preschool classrooms after graduating cum laude from Framingham State College with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Literature. Sara taught in Natick, Sudbury, and Newton schools, while also working toward her EEC Director certification. Sara became the Director of a music-based Montessori preschool and daycare in East Cambridge and expanded the school from one classroom to six. After having her son, Sara decided it was time to stop working full-time and found the amazing community at First Parish Bridgewater!
Sara has been the Director of Religious Education at First Parish Bridgewater for four years, and her own preschooler is part of the dynamic religious education program here!
Sara has a passion for child-based learning, and believes that students must have input into the curriculum.
Before finding Unitarian Universalism, Sara was an active member of her childhood Evangelical Lutheran church in Sudbury through her 20’s, where she chaperoned youth field trips, organized church events, led music in the church summer camp, and also sang in the choir for a decade.
Sara is also active in the First Parish Players and is excited about this multi-generational organization within the church! In the past, she has choreographed around a half dozen musicals for children in grades 2-12: managing casts of up to 60 children! Working with children has been her passion in any capacity where she can teach (and learn!) new things.
Sara’s love for education, spirituality, RE, and music has led her here. She feels privileged to share these with the congregation, and to learn and grow with the church community.
