We New Englanders know well that  Spring does not arrive in a sudden burst of cherry blossoms and daffodils, warm breezes and leafing trees. First, comes the mud. Some of us may also be experiencing a “mud season” of the soul. This is a time of transition in the life of the congregation, in our national politics, and in our global world. We are longing for renewal of hope and abundance, but before we get there we have to spend some time stuck in uncertainty. What lessons can we draw from this Mud Season?
